Back from Thanksgiving

Tis the season to go shopping. I have been spending the past 24 on a mad dash shopping spree to check as many people off my gift list as possible. Finding the right gift takes thoughtful time and effort, but once you know what your buying, the rest is easy, at least if you live in the NYC area, where you can find everything. Anyhow, I will resist my temptation to post ideas for Christmas gifts. So, to the reason for this post, while I was doing some online research I found this stainless steel bar of soap at the Moma store. I had never heard of washing your hands with stainless steel, but apparently it effortlessly eliminates food odors. I cannot vouch for the effectiveness of this product, but it definitely sounds like something I might want to pick up. I have a sensitive nose, and dislike food smells, so this is pretty cool if you ask me.

Another Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello, happy Thanksgiving again, I didn't think I would be back until Friday, but I saw this thing on TV about adopting a turkey and I thought it was very cool. Head to this site to save a Thanksgiving turkey. Although I'm a vegetarian, we are, unfortunately, having a turkey for our Thanksgiving dinner, so I am certainly no activist. Adopting farm animals seems to be gaining in popularity, you west coasters probably have friends who have adopted chickens. Dogs at weddings is a trend I told you about over the summer, who knows, maybe people will have more animals at their weddings in the future.

Hello everyone, I hope you are gearing up for a big Thanksgiving celebration. My husband and I are having almost 20 people over for the holidays, our biggest Thanksgiving dinner to date. There is great Thanksgiving info all over the net. If you want to know more about turkeys than ever, check out Martha's blog and turkey 101. Hostess with the Mostess always has some great inspiration for entertaining during the holidays. Anyhow, be thankful for everything and have a very happy holiday. Real wedding Westchester

These are some photos of a fantastic event Carrie produced this past summer. The clients were from New York, but live in London. The Venue was Monteverde at Oldstone Manor in Cortlandt Manor NY, which is located "upstate", I don't really consider Westchester upstate, and there were gorgeous views of the mountains and the Hudson River. You can't see it in the pictures, but the food was excellent, which was very important to the bride and groom. The event designer was Matthew Robbins from Artfool. The cake is by How Sweet It Is. These images were provided by Jason Walz. I should be getting some more images over the next few days, so there may very well be a follow up to this post.

Town&Country Wedding Issue just listed them as the best resource in L.A. for planning a wedding. We are so excited to be included with this fabulous group of wedding professionals. Their website is a great resource as well, or feel free to stop in their shop location on 624 N. Doheny Drive in West Hollywood. The are conveniently located in one of our favorite parts of the city.

More stationery by Olive-route

Last week I featured an invitation suite by Olivia from Olive-route and I have one more she sent me to show you. Just to refresh, Olive-route is a boutique custom stationery shop and letterpress located in Berkeley, CA. Her work is adorable and she is willing to put together anything your heart desires. Check out these cute welcome baskets!

While doing some research for a client, I came across these adorable welcome baskets for out of towners. This type of item is often a detail that people think of as easy to get accomplished, but can be easier imagined than created. In one of my recent events in East Hampton our client provided a list of their favorite activities in the area, which helped the guests to have a great time, know the area better, and, in a way, get to know the bride and groom better. It is very important to make your out of town guests appreciated. Many brides think that their family and friends are obligated to travel wherever they choose for their big day, but this is certainly not the case, and if you do not take special care, guests will notice. Real wedding Tribeca (Part 2)

Dorothée and Annabel from Belathee Photography have provided us with some beautiful images from a wedding they shot in TriBeCa. This as a summer wedding, and, strangely enough, is actually the first feature on the blog from our own neighborhood of Tribeca. The brides father is a floral designer and did the design on this event. Belathee's images look fantastic, and they are helped along by the fantastic Tribeca scenery, but maybe I am partial. I have a number of images from this event, so I will break it into two posts. Come back later to see more.

Weekend in Montreal

We recently spent a weekend in Montreal. Dan and I had never been, Montreal s a beautiful city. We stayed at the W, which I have pictures of below, the rooms were quite nice, a lot of bang for your buck compared to New York. If you live in New York, Montreal is a relatively short drive, and a lot of fun, I recommend it as a good substitute to the "staycation", which is a vacation at home. We went to a number of fantastic restaurants, most notably, at least for us, was a cute little breakfast chain called Eggspectation. I would definitely eat there again next time we go. Anyhow, here are some pics from our hotel, it was a little bit hip, maybe almost too much so, although the club downstair was a fair amount of fun.

We have recently been speaking to Olivia from Olive-route, and wanted to feature her work on the blog. Olivia is based in Berkeley, CA and provides unique custom designs and letterpress printing. Sale at Russel+Hazel

I don't know if you've hear of them, Russel + Hazel is a fantastic source "Personal + productive designs for home, work + school" plus they also sell a number of wedding related items. I love the 365 day post-it notes, I am a huge fan of ordinary post-it notes, and these are the same, but better. I am also a big fan of calendars, the ones from R+H are artistic and unique. Tuxedos & Ties

I normally don't talk about men's fashion on the blog, but I have recently been fielding some questions about menswear for weddings. Your mans attire may be something you haven't even considered as an element as your wedding, but, it most definitely is. Not all tuxedos are created equal, and the tux will be in almost as many wedding photos as your dress. I don't want to waste too much of your time, but I urge you to give this some serious thought, you should go to multiple rental shops to look at different fashions and cuts, one shop will probably not have them all. You may want to consider buying the tux as well, then it will be custom tailored, and a traditional tux will probably be in style for the next 20 years. Long ties have been quite popular recently, but at a black tie event, I think a bow tie is more appropriate. Now that I think about it, I can go on about this for a while, check out this page at Brides for more info. I really just wanted to remind everyone that this is a vital element of your wedding, that often goes overlooked. Here are a few images for inspiration.

Fantastic Honeymoon Destination One&Only Palmilla

One of my friends recently went on their honeymoon to the One&Only Palmilla, this just happens to be my very own honeymoon destination as well. When we went a number of years ago the hotel was still not quite finished, but it was still an incredible resort. I must attest that the two restaurants were both excellent. Looking over their site, I am reminded of exactly how amazing he scenery was. The two infinity pools provide an unparalleled view of the rocky pacific coast. Also, our room looked almost exactly like the one pictured, which I have found is not as common as it should be. On a more critical note, I am not crazy about Los Cabos and the One&Only sits on a rather rough bit of beach, not ideal for swimming.
