"To Do" List
L.A. The first thing we did when we moved directly off of Mulholland Dr. was re-watch the David Lynch movie of the same title. This weekend the ever-intriguing Lynch has an exhibit opening called "Dark Night of the Soul." To be expected, the exhibit is an overload of Americana creepiness. Michael Kohn Gallery, 8071 Beverly Blvd. Los Angeles. 323.658.8088 New York: Head to the newly opened pool and bar Above Allen at the Thompson LES--opening this weekend. 190 Allen St. Manhattan, NY. Hamptons: The owners of Merkato 55 have opened shop in Southampton serving up brunch at Day & Night Beach Club. 281 Country Rd 39A, Southampton, NY 631.731.3309

Brilliant Idea Goodness
As the summer wedding season approaches, we all know the familiar sight of the outdoor heating lamp. They are a necessary (and unsightly) evil for any evening wedding. Until now, we have always begrudgingly placed the lamps throughout the outdoor cocktail hour, reception areas, and lounges. They are ugly. There is no sugar-coating it. Until now... Check out these adorably modern, cute versions of the heating lamp created by Kindle. What can we say other than pure perfection? Yay to summer weddings--bring on stylish outdoor heating.

Paper Perfection
We wanted to share with you one of the lovely invitation suites that Ceci created for one our upcoming summer weddings. We love the simple color palette, mixed with the ornate design. As always, Ceci creates invitation perfection.

Mélangerie does it again!
The wonderful ladies at Mélangerie created THE most gorgeous gift bags for our White Flower Farm wedding this past weekend. The bride wanted to incorporate local products, as well as include some special treats directly from White Flower Farm. As you can see, guests received quite the gift! The burlap bag complimented the aesthetic of the farm perfectly. Thanks ladies--you've outdone yourselves again. xo

In the swing...
Another hectic week here as we have begun set-up for one of our favorite weddings of the season in Litchfield, CT. We are all on-site all week running around, receiving deliveries, and watching everything come together for our Flower Farm wedding. Here's a beautiful map Laura Hooper created for this special event. More eye candy tomorrow of what's in store for this wedding.
The sched: Winvian Friday + White Flower Farm Saturday = very busy Holiday weekend for LHE.

Brilliant Branding from Stonington Design & Paperie
Christine heads Stonington Design & Paperie, which is one of our favorite stationery and graphic design firms. Not only is her firm creative, but they are always inventive with their approach to design, and most importantly a true pleasure with which to work! Christine and her team just completed an invitation project for one of our client's getting married in Portugal. Because we are pressed for time and due to the complexity of the location, Christine came up with a brilliant approach to this process. She explains below...
as graphic designers we love working on projects where we can develop multiple layers of communication. so we were thrilled when LHE asked us to collaborate with them on a graphic identity for their client's wedding materials. we started the design process by suggesting an electronic save the date and custom blog to announce the client's nuptials in portugal.
a save the date jpeg is an easy way to communicate not only your wedding date, but all types of travel details. the process starts very much the same as any custom design project except we skip the printing phase which ultimately, saves time and expense. links can also be programmed into the jpeg so your guests can have immediate access to even more layers of information.
with lisa and eugenio's save the date we took the added step of creating a custom blog. by linking the save the date to a tailor made blog, your guest list again has immediate access, but this time to your personal thoughts. . .how cool is that? plus you have the added bonus of making updates easily and cost-effectively.
blogger or wordpress are great resources for creating free blogs. in addition make sure to create your own hisandhername email account through free sites like yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc. so you can email under a recognizable name. plus it is a good idea to buy your own hisandhername domain name so you can avoid the added characters a blog adds to a site address. again, this all helps to create a recognizable online presence for your event.
in terms of the design, we simply translated the elements we created for the wedding's overall identity [ie typefaces, color palettes and imagery] into an online format. that way, the electronic save the date and blog start to build equity for entire look and feel of the wedding.
as with any save the date [printed or electronic] the idea is to communicate the necessary information in a memorable but perhaps slightly mysterious way, hinting to your guests that the best is yet to come.
thanks LHE for featuring us today. it is always fantastic to share ideas with you guys.
with appreciation,
ct

Pretty little things: Flowerwild
Kate Holt is the owner and creator of the gorgeous blooms of Flowerwild. Her arrangements are delicate, feminine, with a touch of modern. They are not contrived or trying too hard to be beautiful--they are simply lovely. We wanted to share some of her work with you today because it's just too pretty. Kate is a floral designer in Los Angeles and here is some info about her, in her own words...
I remember....
Planting pansies in my mother's garden, the trails of ants making themselves at home in the peony plants, picking armfuls of lilacs in spring. Fingers red with the juice of fresh raspberries, hiding in the hollyhocks, and of course, the lilly of the valley pushing their little heads up from under the snow...
I have many sweet memories like these which shape all of the arrangements created at Flowerwild. Here, we work with the untamed beauty of Mother Nature to create bouquets that complement each individual flower. Our designs are all custom tailored to suit our clients' specific needs; and reflect our desire to let the flowers shine. As we all know - flowers need no additional make-up or accessories to be drop dead gorgeous!
Discerning flower lovers throughout Los Angeles and Santa Barbara can attest to our impecable taste and exceptional blooms. Our designs can be seen in a handful of Los Angeles' most exclusive resorts and private estates; as well as in the offices and featured events of many of Hollywood's movers and shakers.
Most importantly, through all of our experiences and successes over the years, we remain true to our vision of providing a service that is highly personalized, discreet, and professional while maintaining designs of such beauty, they cannot be imitated. Flowerwild is the premiere florist in Los Angeles!
So, whether you need a tender bouquet of sweet peas and tulips for the kitchen, or dazzling arrangements of dahlias and antique roses draped with jasmine for your wedding, we can accommodate you. Nowhere else will you find designs as unique or as beautiful - nor will you encounter a service that treats its clients with such care. We love what we do and we want you to love it too...right down to the smallest petal.

More Awesomeness from Abby Ross
As promised... The 900 person wedding in Guatemala. Here's a bit of info from Abby about the bride and the wedding. Too cool.
Ariela, the bride is a very philanthropic person. She is very involved with the rural community of Guatemala, which is where she was brought up. She helps local communities thrive by creating micro-credits. She wanted to involve her guests in her mission so she offered 3-4 different activities the day before the wedding. You could visit a coffee farm, hike a volcanoe, take a tour of Antigua, or install efficient wood burning stoves in a local community. Kind of an interesting twist, something you dont see in many weddings:)
